Yesterday evening, two schoolchildren were discovered dead inside the septic tank of a building that was still under construction in Feni's Chhagalnaiya upazila. The victims were Shakhawat Jahan Lihan, age 8, son of Dubai expatriate Shamsul Haque of Durgapur village in Gopal union, and Faisal Farabi, age 9, son of Qatari expatriate Iqbal Hossain of Purbo Shilua village in Pathannagar union. Currently, both families reside in a rented home in the same upazila's Satbaria neighbourhood. According to the authorities, the kids were classmates in a nearby primary school's second grade. Reporters were informed by Farabi's father that his son left for play in the evening and never came back. One of his sandals was discovered close to the septic tank of an adjacent building that was still under construction in Satbaria around 9:30 p.m., following hours of searching. After being pulled from the tank with the assistance of Chhagalnaiya police, the two kids were taken to Chhagalnaiya Upazila Health Complex, where medical professionals pronounced them dead. The fatalities were confirmed by Chhagalnaiya Police Station Inspector (Investigation) Salah Uddin Rashed.
He stated that legal proceedings are in progress and that the bodies will be taken to Feni Sadar General Hospital for a post-mortem examination. News Source: THE DAILY STAR
