In the Sarafbhata Union of Rangunia upazila, a 34-year-old Marma man was shot and killed yesterday.
Shibu, a resident of Marma Palli in Borokholapara and the son of Chingchala Marma, earned a living by selling lemons that were picked from the surrounding hills, according to police and local sources.
He and his wife had gone to his in-laws on Thursday, and this morning he left home alone when the attackers started shooting at him.
Shibu was struck with shotgun pellets and killed immediately at the scene, according to Officer-in-Charge Sabbir Mohammad Selim of the South Rangunia Police Station.
"We got the alert at noon, got his body, and took it to Chittagong Medical College Hospital for a post-mortem," he said.
"A case has been filed and a drive is underway in an effort to track down those responsible."
