At the Chuadanga border, a man is detained carrying eight gold bars

Last night, a guy was apprehended by Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) for trying to enter India through the Gayeshpur border in Jibannagar upazila of Chuadanga district while carrying eight gold bars hidden on his bicycle.

Momin Uddin, a 35-year-old resident of Gyespur village, was arrested close to Islampur's Pichmor neighbourhood.

After receiving a tip, a patrol team from Gayeshpur Border Outpost (BOP), commanded by Havildar Shishir, apprehended the man riding a bicycle close to the border at around 12:30 am, according to Major Munshi Imdadur Rahman, assistant director of BGB-58 Battalion.

They found a little amount of gold and eight gold bars when they searched him.

According to BGB officials, the total weight of the confiscated gold is 1.166 kilogrammes, and its estimated market worth is Tk 1.63 crore.

A case has been submitted to the police station in Jibannagar.

The Chuadanga Treasury Office has received the confiscated gold.
